Kowloon Walled City was an incredibly dense and unique settlement in Hong Kong, originally a Chinese military outpost. Due to historical agreements, it became a Chinese area within British Hong Kong, leading to a lack of proper governance. This allowed the city to grow without building codes, attracting a large population seeking cheap housing and unique business opportunities, including illegal ones. Despite its chaotic appearance and harsh living conditions, the Walled City also fostered a strong community. It was eventually demolished in the 1990s due to safety concerns and the handover of Hong Kong to China.
